Experimental and numerical study on the dynamic response of aluminum alloy wood sandwich panels under high-velocity impact

The purpose of this study was to investigate the high-velocity impact response and failure modes three-layer sandwich panels consisting aluminum alloy sheets plywood. energy absorption mechanism interaction between plywood core were investigated by a test. Different types bullets used in test, velocity parameters obtained using camera assess damage patterns. A full-scale finite element model established simulate mode under impact. After verified experimental results, structure further discussed. results showed that provided better protection than double-layer structure. analysis predictions good agreement with numerical calculations. studies proposed paper are expected provide new references ideas for design multilayer structures resistance lightweight characteristics.
